Budućnost na Sunce Vol. 2 conference

The conference “Budućnost na Sunce Vol. 2: Investing in solar power plants” (“A Future in the Sun”) featured a central panel titled “Investments in solar power plants and the legal framework in BiH in 2022”. Amer Jerlagić took part on behalf of SHPP.

Context

The panel dealt with investment in solar plants and the legal framework in BiH, in a year when interest in solar rose sharply. The key questions at the time for anyone considering a solar plant:

  • how electricity price trends affect the business case for solar,
  • which legal framework applies to building and connecting plants in each entity,
  • how to prepare for the grid-connection process and what investors most often overlook,
  • which financing models are available.

What has changed since

The legal framework has changed significantly since then: Republika Srpska adopted a new Law on Renewable Energy Sources in 2022, and the Federation of BiH a new law on renewable energy and efficient cogeneration in 2023, introducing prosumer status. Read our overview of the current rules in Prosumers in the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska — and always check current regulations before investing.
