Services
Energy consulting & energy efficiency
Energy audits, consumption and tariff analysis, feasibility studies and a costed action plan to cut energy spend — with financing and CBAM guidance.
What you get
- A clear picture of where, when and how much energy you use — and what each bill line really costs you.
- A list of measures ranked by return: from no-cost operational changes to investments with a calculated payback.
- Quick wins on items that are often overlooked — billed peak demand, excess reactive energy, tariff model.
- Feasibility and ROI studies you can hand to your bank or board.
- Financing guidance — loans, leasing, green credit lines and support programmes.
- Energy data prepared for exporters whose EU customers ask about emissions (CBAM, supply-chain reporting).
The cheapest kilowatt-hour is the one you never have to buy. Before investing in new equipment or a solar plant, it pays to know where your energy actually goes and which bill items cost the most. Energy consulting answers that question and turns the answer into a plan with numbers.
Who it is for
- Manufacturers where energy is a significant share of production cost.
- Exporters to the EU, especially in metals, building materials and components, whose customers increasingly ask about emissions and energy sources.
- Companies that have moved to market-based supply and want to understand offers and price structure.
- Facility managers, hotels, retailers and public institutions with high heating, cooling and lighting costs.
What is included
Energy audit and consumption analysis
A survey of the building and processes, a breakdown of consumption by load and identification of losses. Where needed we install a power-quality analyser to measure actual load profiles, power factor and harmonics.
Bill and tariff analysis
We break your bill down into its items — active energy by tariff, billed (peak) demand, excess reactive energy, network charges — and show which ones can be reduced. For business customers these items often hide the fastest savings.
Feasibility and ROI studies
For solar, reactive power compensation, lighting retrofits, variable-speed drives, heat pumps or heat recovery we calculate the saving, investment, cash flow and payback, with sensitivity to energy prices.
Financing guidance
We help you choose between own funds, loans and leasing, and prepare the technical documentation banks require. We have worked with UniCredit Bank and Deloitte BiH on workshops about financing solar projects, so we know the questions a bank will ask.
CBAM and EU customer requirements
The EU’s CBAM entered its definitive phase on 1 January 2026: EU importers of cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity pay for embedded emissions, and sales of CBAM certificates for 2026 start in February 2027. For exporters from BiH this means customers will ask for reliable emissions data. We help you organise your energy data, assess the effect of your own renewable generation and prepare for that conversation. (Emissions calculation and verification under the CBAM methodology is done by an accredited verifier — we prepare the energy side.)
What the result looks like
You get a report with a table of measures, for example:
| Measure | Investment | Saving | Payback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operational measures (scheduling, switching off equipment) | minimal | estimated per site | immediate |
| Reactive power compensation | low to medium | removes the reactive energy charge | usually the shortest |
| Solar plant for self-consumption | medium to high | per simulation | per calculation |
What affects the cost of consulting
Scope depends on the number of buildings and metering points, process complexity, the need for on-site measurements, and whether a study for a bank or investment committee is needed.
Why SHPP
We have worked in energy since 2011, and our goal is to help cut electricity consumption in BiH by up to 5%. As a company that has delivered 71 projects and 30,000 kWp of solar capacity, we don’t recommend measures we couldn’t also implement. Get in touch or request a quote for an energy analysis.
Energy consulting
How we work together
-
Data collection
Electricity and fuel bills for at least 12 months, metering points, connection capacity, equipment list and operating schedule.
-
Site survey
Walk-through of the facility, review of major loads (motors, compressors, lighting, heating, cooling), with power-quality measurements where needed.
-
Analysis and consumption model
We break consumption down by load and time, analyse the tariff items and identify losses.
-
Measures and business case
For each measure: estimated saving, investment, payback and priority. Solar, reactive power compensation and efficient equipment are included where they make sense.
-
Financing and implementation plan
A recommended investment sequence and financing model, with documentation prepared for the bank.
-
Implementation and verification
On request we design and install the equipment, then track whether the planned savings are actually delivered.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about this service
What is an energy audit and what do I get at the end?
An energy audit is a systematic analysis of how a building or process uses energy. You receive a report with the consumption breakdown, identified losses and a prioritised list of measures with estimated savings, investment and payback.
How can I cut my electricity bill without a big investment?
The most common quick wins are: lowering peak demand by rescheduling large loads, reactive power compensation, shifting consumption to lower-tariff hours where possible, switching off idling equipment and fixing compressed-air leaks.
What is CBAM and does it apply to my company?
CBAM is the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. Since 1 January 2026, EU importers of cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity bear a financial obligation for embedded emissions, with certificates for 2026 sold from February 2027. If you export these goods to the EU, your customer will ask you for emissions data. Check current rules, as the EU is extending and adjusting the scope.
Can I get a loan for energy efficiency measures?
Yes — banks in BiH offer loans and leasing for solar plants and energy efficiency, and credit lines from international financial institutions and public co-financing calls are available from time to time. Terms change, so check current offers; we prepare the technical documentation and payback calculation banks usually ask for.
How long does an energy analysis take?
For a smaller commercial building it typically takes a few weeks from receiving the data; complex production sites take longer, depending on whether on-site measurements are needed. We confirm the timeline after the first call.
